The National task force against  illegal importation, smuggling of small arms,ammunition and light weapons has instituted a five hundred million naira suit against the Economic and Financial crimes commission.

Addressing journalists  in Abuja, Director General of the task force Emmanuel Okereke said the legal action was informed by the invasion of the headquarters of the taskforce by operatives of the antigraft agency without due notice.

He said the EFCC operatives during the operation arrested two staff and carted away documents and properties belonging to the task force.Watch Here

Maintaining that team must pursue the matter to logical conclusion, Okereke explained that the application also seeks to restrain the anti graft agency from arresting personnel of the task force on account of its on going recruitment exercise or meddle at its internal operations.

Meanwhile, two employees of the task force who were arrested last week by  EFCC operatives have been granted bail.
