Oshiomhole Will Not Defend Academic Qualification -Supreme Court

The supreme court on Friday says Governor Adams Oshiomhole cannot answer to questions bordering on his educational qualifications before the election petition tribunal, since it was not set out as the original ground of the petition.

Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour in a lead judgment delivered unanimously with Six other Justices said Gen. Charlse Airhiavbere's petition at the election petition tribunal, challenged the election of Adams Oshiomhole on the grounds of election malpractices and not his educational qualification.

Accordingly, Justice Bode allowed the appeal in part, leaving paragraph 30 of the petition to the election petition tribunal to decide, while setting aside the decision of the court of appeal which order Oshiomhole to answer to the question of his academic qualification.

In part, the Edo state governorship election petition tribunal will, in the circumstance of the supreme court judgment, decide on paragraph 30 of the petition which borders on allegation of election irregularities in about 52 out of over 2000 polling units.

Counsel to governor Adams Oshiomhole,Barr,MIKE OZEKHOME says the ruling of the apex court has again demonstrated that justice can still be obtained irrespective of who is involved                         

The governor, Adams Oshiomhole also praised the judiciary for her steadfastness inspite of the manipulative tendencies of some individuals who he says thrives on falsehood.
